Poor me

Published on 12 November 2024 at 07:59

LORD, it’s so easy to feel sorry for myself – as a widow, as a woman, as a momma and a grannee.

It’s easy to slip and slide into that pit of muck, mire, despair and discouragement.

It’s too easy.

And it’s too hard to stay away from the edge.

It’s too much for me to get out on my own, too.

I have fought greatly against it all these years since Rick has been gone.

I fought against it the last few years he was here, too.

And now.

This warrior is a child.

I’m tired.

Weary.

Worn out.

My strength is gone like a drop of water on a hot Texas day.

LORD, I look to YOU . . . YOU are my HOPE, my PRAYER, my PROMISE.

I pray for the LIGHT of YOUR Presence to shine on me.

To show me the footsteps to take.

The hand holds to grab.

The way to climb out of this pit.

Please, help me to listen to YOUR Voice.

And to keep my eyes on YOU – not to look back, not to look down.

But to keep my eyes on YOU . . .

Seeing YOU . . . hearing YOU . . . Trusting and obeying YOU . . .

Please, rescue me from the muck and the mire, the wallows and bog, the sludge and the cracks.

Wash me till I am clean.

Cleanse me till I am holy and pure in YOUR Eyes.

Wrap me up in the Robes of CHRIST’S Righteousness.

And please, Hold me close to YOU . . .

Save me O GOD – YOU are my only HOPE . . .

In JESUS’ NAME I cry out . . .

Teach me how to get farther and farther from the edge.

: Psalm 40:2-3 – He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a Rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord.

  • Oh may it be so! May this be the song of my life!

: Psalm 42:5-6 – Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my Salvation and my God. My soul is cast down within me, therefore I remember You from the land of Jordan and of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.

  • LORD, help me to HOPE . . . in YOU . . . O GOD . . .

: Psalm 147:10-11 – His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor His pleasure in the legs of a man, but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who Hope in His Steadfast Love.

  • LORD, I am YOURS . . .
