Worry . . .

Published on 12 July 2024 at 09:43

Worry is like a rocking chair.

It gives me something to do, but gets me nowhere 😉

LORD, it is so easy to get caught up in the vortex of worry.

Which leads to a vacuum of fear.

I’ve always been one to worry and be afraid.

Rick dealt with me in all of that for 35 years.

Rivers of tears.

Hours of fretfulness and anxiety.

He sometimes lost his cool patience.

But mostly, he was understanding of me – even if he didn’t understand the worry and the fear.

Now, without him?

GOD, if the struggle was real back then, how much more is it real now!

The temptation to worry, to be afraid, to be anxious, to PANIC – it’s constantly around me, on me, within me.

  • Where should I be?
  • What should I do?
  • The kids, grandkids, great-grandkids
  • Others, and the world events
  • My finances – housing, vehicle, food
  • My health issues
  • All the many upon many, upon many, what if’s and if onlies

LORD, the only way I can fight this is to cry out to YOU.

I can’t change anything about the past.

I don’t live there anymore.

But, I don’t live in the future, either.

What will be – well, will be.

I live today – and it only moment by moment, breath by breath.

Please, help me keep my heart centered on YOU, and my mind focused on the next step – that next thing that is in front of me.

This is the day that YOU, LORD, have made – please, help me rejoice and be glad in it.

I know that PTSD is real – even when not in a military combat situation.

I know that I have been diagnosed with PTSD twice now.

And I know that I have been told it never goes away – that it is something to be learned to live with, like grief.

Thank YOU all over again for Psalm 56:3 – When I am afraid, I will trust in the LORD.

That beautiful and sweet word – WHEN.

YOU knew how much I would need to lean on that word.

Thank YOU GOD!!!!!

: Luke 12:25-26 – And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?

  • Because it is who I am, it is what I do. 😉 LORD, change me. LORD, help me be changed.

: I Thessalonians 5:16-18 – Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

  • LORD, help me trust and obey.

: Psalm 36:9 – For with You is the Fountain of Life; in Your Light do we see light.

  • Thank YOU GOD . . . Thank YOU!!!!!
