When I am afraid . . .

LORD, when I am afraid, I trust in YOU . . . Psalm 56:3

There are so many things in my life, in this world, that I have no control over.

Routines (or are they ruts?) rarely run smoothly these days.

And when they do, they catch me off-guard and a bit shaken.

Feels more like waiting for that proverbial “other shoe to drop”.

For these years of being a widow, I have looked for security.

Even though we moved so many times, life with Rick was still secure.

No matter where we went, what we did, or who we were with – we were together in it, all.

Having the spiritual security of not only Heaven one day, but of knowing that YOU are with me now – that YOU walk with me and talk with me here and now – has been a growing experience.

The Truth being realized as I live this life, moment by moment.

And still, I flop around like a fish out of water, gasping for air to breathe, aching for that comfort and familiarity of water to swim in.

LORD, I hold to YOUR Promises – one being that YOU will order my steps and direct my paths.

And LORD, I trust YOU when I am afraid.

Please, Dear LORD GOD, lead me to the ROCK that is higher than me, stronger and more secure than my life and circumstances.

Please, Dear LORD GOD, hold me.

My faith is so small, and these mountains look so big.

: Isaiah 12:2 – Behold, God is my Salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my Strength and my Song, and He has become my Salvation.

  • When I am afraid, LORD, I trust in YOU . . .

: Psalm 61:1-4 – Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer, from the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint. Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I, for You have been my Refuge, a Strong Tower against the enemy. Let me dwell in Your tent forever! Let me take refuge under the shelter of Your Wings! For You, O God, have heard my vows; You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your Name.

  • There’s that word again, “WHEN”. Thank YOU GOD for understanding that my heart is faint.

: II Corinthians 3:18 – And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the Glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord Who is the Spirit.

  • Thank YOU GOD for this Promise.
